Major Victory For A Client During COVID-19

Recently, The Law Office of Tiffany M. Hughes secured a major victory on behalf of a client, granting him and the children emergency relief that allowed them to remain in Arizona instead of being forced to return to Chicago during the pending COVID-19 crisis. While our client was away with the children on spring break (but without the other spouse), the federal government began instituting travel restrictions. Our client and the children were in a rural location, with expansive space for the children to safely play outside and no neighbors within miles. Despite that, the spouse wanted to compel the children to get on a plane and fly back to Chicago – one of the COVID-19 “hotbeds” – to then stay in their cramped downtown apartment which had instituted lock down protocol. Thanks to our immediate intervention and expertise, our client’s motion was granted and our client has been able to stay with the children in the rural location, where the kids play outside in a national park. Meanwhile, Chicago parks and beaches are closed and the mandatory “Shelter-In-Place” order in Chicago overall has been extended through the end of April.

Courts and COVID-19

Despite the extended “Shelter-In-Place” order, courts are operating on an emergency basis. Emergency matters are still being heard, however, the standards for what the court believes to be an “emergency” matter are extremely strict. Failure to abide by the court’s requirements could result in your case being stricken or dismissed. That’s why you need The Law Office of Tiffany M. Hughes to guide you through this complicated process. Our attorneys are well-versed in the court’s requirements for emergencies, and are fully equipped to start working on your case immediately. We take all matters regarding your safety and your children’s safety seriously.
